About the Higher Education Institution Register
Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) is required under the Higher Education (General Provisions) Act 2014 (HEGPA) to establish and maintain a register of all registered higher education institutions in Papua New Guinea (PNG). This interactive Higher Education Institution Register is the official record of all registered higher education institutions in PNG.
The interactive Register is currently in the process of being compiled and once fully developed will list the following for each institution:
- Name of the institution and address
- Programmes, courses/units accredited or approved that are delivered by the institution
- Registration details
- Quality review dates (past and proposed)
- Category, e.g., University, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institution, Teacher College, Business College, Nursing College etc.
- Type, e.g., public, private, church agency, provincial or overseas institutions
The Register sets out to provide the government, students, parents, institutions and the wider public with current and accurate information regarding all higher education institutions that are registered in PNG.
