About BEST PNG programme

The Government of Papua New Guinea through the National Department of Education (NDoE) received an Education Sector Plan Implementation Grant from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). This grant is supporting the implementation of the Boosting Education Standards Together in PNG (BEST PNG) programme. BEST PNG is implemented a programme Management Unit within the NDoE with support from Save the Children in PNG (SCPNG) as the Grant Agent and other partners including Newcrest Mining Ltd (NML) and BSP Financial Group Ltd (BSP).

Scholarships

BEST PNG Female Teacher Education Scholarship Scheme

Global Partnership for Education (GPE) [www.globalpartnership.org] and BSP Financial Group Ltd (BSP) Teacher Education Scholarship Scheme is part of comprehensive education Boosting Education Standards Together (BEST) in PNG programme. The scholarship scheme is developed based on the GPE principle of developing and implementing high quality, equitable and efficient education interventions to improve access and learning outcomes, especially for the most vulnerable students. Currently forty (40) female students are being supported by GPE and (10) by Newcrest Mining Ltd (NML). An additional 05 are to be supported by BSP.

Scholarships for female students studying a degree in Secondary Teacher Education (Mathematics and Science)

Scholarships for five (05) female students studying a Bachelor of Secondary Teacher Education Degree (Pre-Service) specialising in Mathematics & Science at
St Peter Chanel Catholic College (SPCCC), Kokopo, East New Britain Province.
